Dairy Free Hot Chocolate
This delicious recipe with only 5 ingredients is a winter staple in our house. My son will go outside to play in the snow for only a few minutes to try and earn a cup of this hot chocolate! I like to split it with half almond milk and half coconut milk to give it a thicker and creamier consistency. I have found with just straight coconut milk it tends to over power the flavor so you are welcome to experiment with any non-dairy milk that you prefer.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
- 1 tbs raw cacao powder
- 1 tbs pure maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of sea salt
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients into a saucepan over high heat, using a whisk to break up any clumps.
- Stir until smooth and piping hot.
- Pour into a mug and serve warm.
- Top with dairy-free whipped cream.
