Dairy Free Hot Chocolate


This delicious recipe with only 5 ingredients is a winter staple in our house.  My son will go outside to play in the snow for only a few minutes to try and earn a cup of this hot chocolate!  I like to split it with half almond milk and half coconut milk to give it a thicker and creamier consistency.  I have found with just straight coconut milk it tends to over power the flavor so you are welcome to experiment with any non-dairy milk that you prefer.



Ingredients:
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
  • 1 tbs raw cacao powder
  • 1 tbs pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of sea salt

Directions:
  1. Combine all ingredients into a saucepan over high heat, using a whisk to break up any clumps.
  2. Stir until smooth and piping hot.
  3. Pour into a mug and serve warm.
  4. Top with dairy-free whipped cream.
